FIBREBOARD BOXES (CARDBOARD BOXES)

The most common economical container for shipping continues to be the cardboard box. This is understandable as shippers seek efficient, but inexpensive and lightweight packaging.

CLEATED PLYWOOD BOXES

Properly assembled and used, cleated plywood panel boxes have many uses in foreign trade and shipping. Their lightness and comparative strength makes them a recommended choice for air freight shipments.

STEEL DRUMS

New steel drums are generally excellent for export and shipping. Second-hand drums, unless thoroughly reconditioned and tested, may be a less than optimal choice. Fatigue caused by dents at the chime and previous damage to closures an leave your cargo vulnerable.

BARRELS, CASKS OR KEGS

The wooden barrel has been used in overseas trade since ancient times. Selection of the wrong barrel for your product or shipment can result in leakage and contamination. Focus Worldwide Logistics has the knowledge and experience necessary to pack your cargo safely.

MULTI-WALL SHIPPING SACKS

Multi-wall shipping sacks or bags are best used in the packaging and shipping of powdered, granular, lump materials, and particularly dry chemicals. These sacks are flexible containers generally made up from two walls (plies) of heavy-duty craft paper (to a maximum of six plies).

BALES

A well-made bale travels reasonably well in most export trades and shipments. However, all bales can be subject to pilferage, hook holes and water damage. They are not recommended for highly valued commodities.

PALLETIZING CARGO

Many products or commodities can be economically palletized to facilitate their handling, stowage, and protection. Packing cost may be significantly reduced by palletizing or unitizing.

There are four standard pallets that accommodate the various and/or intermodal containers presently used in international commerce. The normal sizes (in inches) of these four standard pallets are:
